Two Jacksonville men have been arrested for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine in Western Illinois.

KHQA-TV in Quincy reports 25-year-old Kouri Woods and 25-year-old Justin Rawlings were arrested due to a large amount of methamphetamine that was recovered during a traffic stop on Interstate 72 between Pittsfield and Griggsville Tuesday morning shortly after 4:15.

A police K-9 unit was called in and reportedly conducted a walk after a brief roadside investigation, and alerted authorities.

Woods and Rawlings remain in custody at the Pike County Jail. KHQA reports they’re expected due in court next Tuesday in Pittsfield.

A second vehicle was also stopped near the Pike-Scott County line, and reports indicate three unidentified people were detained after two plastic bags of suspected meth were located.

The investigation revealed that the illegal narcotics had come across state lines from Missouri to Illinois and subsequently located by police. Pike County States Attorney Zack Boren told KHQA-TV the street value of the drugs seized was $17,000.
