Grab that ugly bridesmaid dress and flaunt it around the downtown square for a good cause next weekend.
That’s the idea behind the latest fundraiser for the South Morgan/Premier Bank Tri-County Relay for Life team called “The Longest Aisle” Bridesmaid Run/Walk. The event begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 16th with registration. The one-mile race begins 9 a.m.
Carolyn White is a team co-captain and kidney cancer survivor.
“We’ve opened this up for everybody just to be crazy and have a lot of fun with it,” says White. “Put your running shoes on. We want guys to run, too. Fix up a t-shirt and go see if you find some goofy outfit at Goodwill or Salvation Army. We just want people to gather and have an absolute blast.”
The entry fee is $15 which goes toward the Relay for Life’s mission to fight cancer.
White says there will be awards, prizes and even a photo shoot.
“Awards are not your typical awards for a race,” says White. “They’re like the “Craziest Outfit”, “The Craziest Bridal Party”, “Craziest Hair” and such as that, and we want to have a bridal party photo shoot. It’s kind of like a mass wedding like they have in Central Park in New York sometimes. We’ll just make our own Midwest spin off of something like that.”
