UPDATE: Victim identified in Tuesday’s alleged homicide in Waverly

The victim of Tuesday night’s alleged homicide is Waverly has been identified.

According to Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards, 29-year old Jessie Henson of Waverly was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

After conducting an autopsy, it was determined that Jessie Henson died as a result of stab wounds and blunt force injuries sustained Tuesday evening at her residence in the 300 block of East Elm Street in Waverly.

Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack confirmed that Jessie Henson was the wife of 33-year old Nathan Henson, who was arrested and booked at the Morgan County jail early Wednesday morning on a charge of alleged murder.

The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office says that, based on the autopsy results, the manner of Jessie Henson’s death does appear to be a homicide at this point in the investigation. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police are both investigating the incident.

As for the suspect, Nathan Henson, Morgan County State’s Attorney Gray Noll says there’s a 90 percent chance he will make his first appearance in Morgan County court today at 2 p.m.
