Policies regarding nepotism and the termination of probationary employees, as well as the appointment of a new Trustee highlight tonight’s South Jacksonville meeting.

Trustees will gather for both their regularly scheduled board meeting, as well as a special meeting,  tonight at South Jacksonville Village Hall

At the special meeting, which begins at 6:45 Trustees will go over action items concerning clarifications regarding the Village’s policy on nepotism in light of the recent concerns regarding the hiring of a family member of Village President Harry Jennings. During the special meeting, the Board will also look at a resolution regarding the policy for terminating probationary employees.

At the adjournment of the special meeting, the trustees will then begin the regular meeting. Here, trustees will hear reports from the mayor, where Jennings will discuss building permits and several other items, including the appointment of a new Village Trustee to replace the now=retired Steve Waltrip.

There will also be reports from all of the village’s committees before the board moves into the action items for the regular meeting. These items include an engagement of services with Hutchinson Engineering for work on Michigan Ave, an amendment of a contract for utilities and maintenance, a no parking ordinance for a portion of road on South Magnolia, and an approval of account signatories.

All of tonight’s action takes place in the Village Hall Board Room starting at 6:45. The next regularly scheduled South Jacksonville Village Board meeting will take place in March.
