Improved water meter technology could be making its way to a Cass County village.
Virginia City Council unanimously approved the new water meter installation last week. The Cass County Star-Gazette reports the advanced meters will automatically transmit usage data wirelessly, unlike the current meters which must be read by a city worker.
Virginia will be borrowing $225,000 at 3.1 percent interest from Petefish, Skiles and Co. Bank to pay for the updates.
Final approval of the water meters is expected in June.
