Voting to approve Vision 117 plan highlights District 117 meeting

Board members will vote to adopt Phase One of the recommended long range facilities master plan from the Vision 117 Community Engagement Program. This plan will comprehensively renovate and construct additions to Turner Jr. High School to become a 6-8 Middle School.

Other action items for the meeting include voting on the approval of contracts for the Jacksonville Instructional Support Personnel Association and District Unified Secretarial Association.

JISPA, which has been in works with District 117 since 2013, works as the bargaining agent for District 117 employees to negotiate wages, hours, terms and conditions of their contracts. The DUSA, in works since 2012, is the bargaining agent for full and part-time secretarial employees.

The board will also review multiple bids’ to improve facilities in District 117. Murrayville Elementary has requested that repairs be done to the roof on the north end of the school. The repairs are estimated to cost around $49,000. Another request includes repairs to some of the floor tiles at Jacksonville High School.

Board policy reviews on topics such as FOIA requests, distribution of public records and workplace harassment will also be discussed at tonight’s meeting.

The night begins with a facilitation committee presentation at 6:00 p.m., followed by the school board meeting at 7:00 p.m.
