The woman convicted in the murder of Steven Watkins is speaking out to our TV news reporting partners.
Seventy-eight-year-old Shirley Skinner was convicted of shooting Watkins in the back of the head while he was picking up his daughter in Ashland for a court-ordered visitation in 2008. She’s been trying to get a clemency request granted from the governor.
Skinner spoke in an exclusive jailhouse interview from the Logan County Correctional Center to ABC Newschannel 20’s Vince DeMentri.
Part Two is scheduled to air tonight on Channel 20. We are airing a portion of it on WLDS and WEAI today, but the full story posted online that aired on Channel 20 last night is below. WICS will air Part 2 this evening.
We will air the story in its entirety on WLDS’ “What’s On Your Mind?” on Wednesday.
