Jacksonville High School’s boys’ head basketball coach is stepping down after one season.
Cliff Cameron retired last spring as Pleasant Plains head coach. He said he found he wasn’t ready to stop coaching altogether, and when Sean Taylor left JHS for Moline, Cameron took the Crimson post.
But, he admits that it may have been too soon.
Cameron won’t rule out coaching again. But he says he is not looking, and doesn’t plan to coach next season.
Cameron says it IS a jump to move from a 2A school with familiar surroundings to the 3A level.
Cameron led JHS to an 18-13 record this season, after posting a 406 and 143 career record at Plains.
