The 26th annual West Central Illinois All-Star Football Game is coming up next Saturday.
The game will feature 86 senior high school players from the 2013 season representing 27 high schools in the area. Practices will be held next week from Monday to Friday for South Squad players at Staunton High School, and from next Tuesday to Friday for North Squad players at Rochester High School.
Jeff Alderman of Alton High School will coach the South, while Derek Leonard of Rochester High School will coach the North.
The North roster includes Jacksonville tight end Clayton Werries and running back Collin Ryals, as well as Routt running back Ben Whalen. It also includes New Berlin-Franklin-Waverly wideout Collin Busy, defensive back Austin Brown, and running back Tyler Cloyd.
PORTA wide receiver Chance Baugher, tight end Nate Wenda and running back Jesse Setzer also are included.
The South roster includes linebacker Dylan Barnett of Carrollton, and four players from Greenfield-Northwestern: running back Dakota Coffey, receivers Eli Weller and Riley Marsh, and linebacker Patrick McWhorter.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults or students with children under age 12 admitted free. The kickoff from Sacred Heart Griffin High School is at 5 p-m.
Last year, the North topped the South for the second straight year intercepting four passes on their way to a 31-17 victory. The North has a 12-6 edge in the all-time series.
