West Central has a new boys’ basketball coach.
The Winchester school board last night hired Ryan Sichting. Sichting takes over for Jeff Abell, who officially resigned his position yesterday to take the jobs as Palmyra Northwestern High School principal for next year.
Sichting is a graduate of MacMurray College. He has named SLIAC honorable mention in basketball at Mac in 2009 and 2010. Sichting served as an assistant coach in the Triopia school system in 2011, before he was hired at San Manuel High School in Arizona. Sichting had a 47 and 46 record as varsity coach there from 2011 through 2015.
Sichting was an assistant basketball coach at MacMurray College last year. He will teach drivers’ education at Winchester High School.
Abell leaves the West Central varsity post with a 374 and 195 record at Bluffs and West Central. Abell began coaching at Bluffs in 1998.
