One of Jacksonville’s newest aldermen is stepping down.

Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard tells WLDS-WEAI News Ben Tomhave, of the 4th Ward, is leaving soon because he’s moving outside the ward, and the city.     Ezard appointed Ben Tomhave to replace Jenny Geirnaeirt last spring when she took the Morgan County Treasurer job. Tomhave was elected to a full term last fall.

Ezard says the replacement process has already begun. He said in a statement, “In his short time with the council, Alderman Tomhave has worked hard and really done his homework in regards to city business. His accessibility and helpful demeanor will be missed. I have no doubts that he will still be involved in local government in different capacities.”
