A math teacher at 8 Points Charter School has been nominated for Renaissance Learning’s “Distinguished Teacher Award.”
According to a press release from the school, Beth Simler is in the running for the award due to the higher than average growth scores that students are achieving on the STAR Math Assessment.
Lance Taylor, an official with Renaissance Learning, indicated data from 8 Points Charter would be sent to a Research and Development Team to determine if practices at the charter school should be replicated elsewhere.
Simlar is a graduate of Illinois College and has been at 8 Points Charter since 2011.
