A fatal one-vehicle accident has occurred in Scott County.
According to reports from the Morgan County Coroner’s office, it happened yesterday on Route 67 about a fifth of a mile north of the Manchester-Alsey Blacktop, involving the death of 19-year-old Antonia Gomer of Chapin.
The accident occurred in the southbound lane at around 1 p.m. Illinois State Police reports indicate Gomer was traveling northbound when she lost control of the vehicle and left the west side of the roadway.
The vehicle, a 1998 BMW sedan, crossed the snow-covered grass mediana dn overturned multiple times, and continued across both southbound lanes of traffic before coming to rest on its top along the west shoulder.
According to reports, Gomer was pronounced dead at Passavant Area Hospital about two hours later.
The crash is under investigation by the Morgan County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
