A rural Carrollton man was killed in an accident in Greene County that happened Friday night. According to reports from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, it happened about two miles north of Carrollton west of Route 67 on County Road 1525N. Deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident involving 56-year-old John Peters. Reports indicate Peters was the only occupant. He was reportedly headed westbound in a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle, causing the truck to leave the roadway. The truck reportedly struck a utility pole. Reports indicate Peters was unconscious when emergency responders arrived. He was taken to Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, then transferred to Passavant Area Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
