Several resolutions make their way onto the agenda for tonight’s Jacksonville City Council meeting.         The action will get started at 6 o’clock tonight with a workshop in which council members will discuss several items.

Starting off the City Council meeting, Jacksonville aldermen will hear the mayor’s report. The two items listed for this report are a resolution affirming Jacksonville’s strong support of Civil Rights and Opposition to Racism and Discrimination of all kinds. There is also a ceremony for the Jacksonville Fire Department in which they will recognize service achievements, promotions, and have a swearing-in/badge presentation.

In the city attorney’s report, there is the second reading of an ordinance amending the Jacksonville Municipal Code as it pertains to the retail sale of alcoholic beverages. There is also the first reading of an ordinance to amend the Jacksonville Municipal Code for garbage and refuse. Finally, there is a resolution establishing fees for cutting weeds and grass.

On the consent agenda, we find a resolution authorizing payments from the Waterworks and Sewerage Projects Fund for improvement projects, and a resolution to accept a proposal for the Webster Avenue/Crabtree Road Water Main Replacement Project.

Tonight’s city council meeting will get started no later than 7 o’clock at the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
