Ameren Illinois is making $50,000 available tomorrow morning to help income-qualified customers in Morgan, Cass and Scott Counties with their energy bills.

Starting at 9 a.m. at the Jacksonville American Legion Post 279 building, 903 West Superior Avenue, customers may receive a one-time credit of up to $100 towards their bill. Energy efficiency tips and billing options will also be discussed.

Ameren spokesperson Marcelyn Love talks about the upcoming event.

“We understand these are tough economic times for some. Ameren Illinois has made funds available to help residents with their utility bills and keep them from falling behind. This is not the first time we have had customer outreach events.”

Love says Ameren officials will assist as many people as possible and encourages customers to show up early to take advantage of this program.

All customers need to bring a copy of the Ameren Illinois bill, proof of income and a form of identification.

The program assists individuals who are LIHEAP eligible.
