More than 70 Illinois food and drink businesses, including Jones Boys Market in Ashland, are taking part in the 18th annual Products Expo.

According to Director Raymond Poe, Illinois ranks first among states in food processing sales and second in manufacturing activity.

Those in attendance have the opportunity to taste, sample and purchase a variety of items that Illinois has to offer.

Jones Boys Market has been featured at the Products Expo since 2005 and co-owner Dan Jones says his business has several specialty bratwursts to show off.

“This year I am sampling our Apple, which is our best seller, and or English banger which is our second best seller. I also plan on doing a sweet Italian, which we have never done before.”

Jones says you can find all different kinds of food on display, like salsas, sauces, chili mixes and more.

With the expo taking place right before grilling season, Jones says the event makes a big impact on his business.

“You might be surprised if you don’t normally to go to things like this, what actually is available. You actually get to meet the people that put the products out too.

This year’s event runs on Saturday from 10-5 pm and Sunday from 10-3 p.m. at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
