The Cargill meat processing plant in Beardstown has been sold.
The $1.45 billion agreement with JBS USA Pork was confirmed on Wednesday from a press release. Completion of the sale is still subject to regulatory review and approval.
The purchase includes a processing plant in Ottumwa, Iowa, five feed mills and four hog farms around the Midwest.
JBS entered the U.S. pork market in 2007 and currently employees over 6,000 workers.
Cargill acquired the Beardstown and Ottumwa plants in 1987. A total of 9.3 million hogs were processed at the plants in 2014.
