Fire did significant damage to a banquet hall just east of Jacksonville early Sunday morning.

Jacksonville and South Jacksonville firefighters responded to Bogart’s at 2142 East Old State Road at around 4 a-m. Upon arriving, light smoke was showing, and upon opening the door, it turned into heavy smoke, according to the Jacksonville Fire Department.

Reports indicate the bar top in the banquet hall had burned all the way through, and had extensive damage. The ceiling had also reportedly burned into the upper portion of the building.

The building is owned by Brad Fellhauer, who lives there and was able to get out safely after waking up and smelling smoke. There were no injuries reported.

The building suffered extensive smoke damage, and the fire department says about $30-thousand of damage was tallied. There’s no determination on what caused the fire.

Fire crews were on scene for about two hours.
