Repaving of South Street in Mt. Sterling begins Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 with South Street from S.E. Cross to S.W. Cross, including parking from Capitol Avenue to S.W. Cross. Work will also begin on the parking on the north side of South Street between Capitol Avenue (Old Deer Ridge building) and S.W. Cross (site for new library). The city asks that if you park along this portion of the street to park on the south side of the street beginning next week. Be aware the contractor or city employees may come to your door and request that your vehicle be moved. Residents from Capitol to S.E. Cross may still park on South Street during this first part of the project, only needing to arrange alternate parking during the repaving portion of the project. The project deadline for completion by November 19, 2021. Updates will be published in the Democrat-Message as well as the city’s Facebook page. For more information contact Vada Yingling, 217-773-2513 or visit City Hall between 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Mon-Fri.
