It’s been two days since Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack’s official endorsement of Mike Carmody and both Morgan County Candidates are reacting to the news.

On Tuesday, Sheriff Duvendack wrote a letter to the Journal Courier editor, stating that he officially endorses his chief deputy.

Carmody talks about how this endorsement is a boost for him as election day draws near.

“It’s actually great. Randy is a great boss. He didn’t tell me he was going to do it. My phone started to blow up about 8 o’clock in the morning. People texting. He’s a great sheriff, he’s one of the nicest people in the area. We’ve pretty much have been talking about my qualifications the entire time. My year’s of experience, Randy’s endorsement, bring validity to what I’ve been saying all along.” Carmody said.

Carmody’s opponent, Chris Johnson has ran a tight campaign against the chief deputy for about a year. Johnson gives his thoughts on how Sheriff Duvendack’s endorsement might effect the race.

“I think most people expected that, it’s good news for Mike. I know Sheriff Duvendack said he was going to stay out of it but I think most people expected that. I expected that. I am not going to change my game plan at all. I’ve still got people I need to reach and my message heard. I’m just gonna keep pushing along.” said Johnson.
