Carrollton mayor reportedly taking leave of absence

The mayor of Carrollton has taken a six-month leave of absence.

Multiple media outlets have reported Mayor David Stendeback is stepping back due to a medical issue. Carrollton city council members appointed alderman Dewain Freand mayor pro tem during Tuesday’s city council meeting..

The Jacksonville Journal-Courier reports alderman Sharon Butler voted against the pro tem vote, saying he was told by the mayor that he resigned.

It’s being reported that Carrollton residents jammed this week’s meeting to voice various disappointments, including with how the city’s municipal government is being run.
