Carrollton Police Chief Kenny Kallal  has reportedly been placed on administrative leave.

The Greene Prairie Press reports Kallal was placed on leave by the Carrollton City Council after Tuesday night’s workshop meeting.

The move came just hours after Greene County State’s Attorney Caleb Briscoe released a statement that no crime had been committed by City Clerk Ryan Scott after Kallal turned over documents to state police, as determined by ISP officials and Briscoe.

At a City Council meeting earlier this month, Kallal reportedly said an investigation was being conducted by state police against Scott.

According to newspaper reports, it was revealed during Tuesday’s meeting that Scott was suspected of theft, based on Scott’s report of “suspicious activity” at the Carrollton Police Department. Scott reported in March money for fines being collected was missing, although it was apparently found later.

It’s being reported that Assistant Police Chief Reg Pohlman will take over for Kallal in his absence.

The Greene County newspaper also reports Scott will be given a key to his office after apparently being locked out outside regular business hours when the locks were changed last month following his scrutiny of the police department.
