WLDS/WEAI News would like to make a correction to a story that ran this morning regarding the arrest of a Chatham woman on alleged meth-related charges.

Initial reports from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office indicated that 34-year old Jennifer Gaines, of the 400 block of East Mulberry Street in Chatham, was booked at the Morgan County jail shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday for the alleged manufacturing or delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine.

However, Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Carmody says that Gaines was arrested for delivery of less than five grams of methamphetamine. Carmody says the Central Illinois Enforcement Group of the Illinois State Police had investigated two separate incidents of Gaines delivering less than five grams of meth.

Carmody says that the alleged charges facing Gaines are still classified as felonies. Gaines currently remains in custody at the Morgan County Jail.
