It won’t be your typical Monday night at the Jacksonville Municipal Building for Jacksonville aldermen when they meet for their regular city council meeting this evening.
The first major change to note is that tonight’s workshop session, which typically starts right around 6 p.m., has been canceled. And instead, the regular city council meeting, which normally starts immediately after the workshop, will now move up and commence at 6 o’clock.
Discussion at tonight’s city council meeting will focus on a number of topics such as a resolution authorizing the city’s Electric Service Agreement and a resolution authorizing payments from the Wateworks & Sewerage Projects Fund for services rendered or improvement projects.
In the consent agenda for tonight, under the finance, IT and Personnel committee reports, Jacksonville city council members will hear the first reading of an ordinance making appropriations for corporate purposes for fiscal year 2018 for the city of Jacksonville. Aldermen will also hear the second reading of an ordinance to amend the Jacksonville Zoning map for property located at 1118 and 1124 West Walnut Street, which is the property where West Central Mass Transit currently resides. And under Public Protection, there will be a promotional ceremony for the Jacksonville Fire Department.
Prior to tonight’s action, the city has also announced that the Golf Oversight Committee will meet in the Commission Room at 3 p.m. today. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss guidelines of the Golf Oversight Committee and the current budget of The Links and the Nichols Park Golf Course. The committee will also allow for a Question & Answer session relating to current concerns regarding the golf course.
Of course all of this evening’s/tonight’s activities take place in the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
