Morgan County Commissioners approved a three-year agreement with the union representing employees in the county highway department this morning.

According to chairman Brad Zeller, the agreement with the Operating Engineers Union includes a two-percent raise for the 2015 and 2016 fiscal years. After that, raises will vary from one to three percent based on the Consumer Price Index, or CPI. The agreement also includes a five percent raise on the health insurance cap.

Zeller said during this morning’s meeting he was pleased to get the contract signed. He says the county is still negotiating with two Fraternal Order of Police unions representing the jailers and deputies at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.

Commissioners also approved the sale of ten properties in Morgan County through a sealed auction for a total of $21,700. The county share will be just under $14-thousand, according to Zeller.

Morgan County Highway Department Engineer Matt Coultas indicated work on the Clark Road Bridge, which goes over Indian Creek, is complete, save for a final inspection from the Illinois Department of Transportation, and that the bridge has re-opened.
