A part-time corrections officer for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department has been fired after a DUI arrest earlier this week.

Twenty-five-year-old Dalton Johnson of the 100 block of Labor was arrested Tuesday morning for DUI and speeding by South Jacksonville police a couple blocks from his residence. Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack says he made the decision to fire Johnson this morning.

Johnson began working for the sheriff’s office in June.

Duvendack notes part-time employees at the sheriff’s office are non-union positions.
