The first court date for the individual arrested in connection with the murder of Marcus Jackson is tomorrow morning.

Nineteen-year-old Avery Berry of Jacksonville, who is being charged with three counts of first-degree murder from the October 24th incident in Jacksonville, was picked up in the St. Louis area by U.S. Marshals yesterday afternoon, according to Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Rodney Cox.

Cox says Berry will be appearing in court tomorrow in St. Louis at 9 a.m.

“From that point he could wave extradition, and if he does that they will contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s office,” says Cox.

“They will go down and pick him up, then bring him back here. If he does not wave extradition and chooses to fight it, the county would be notified and the state’s attorney would have to obtain a governor’s warrant within 30 days.”

After a governor’s warrant is obtained, Berry would be brought back to Jacksonville.
