Crimestoppers of Morgan and Scott County is hosting a free presentation tomorrow to help keep families safe at home.

Starting at 7 p.m. at the Chapin American Legion, Crimestoppers Coordinator Loren Hamilton will moderate a program entitled “Home Security.”

According to Hamilton, the public asked for this program after recent disturbances in the community.

“They’ve had some issues with suspected prowlers in the village and a lot of citizens are concerned. That is why they are asking for tips on that and how to form a neighborhood watch. It is probably a program that would be beneficial to everyone,” says Hamilton.

Hamilton says Crimestoppers offered classes on home, cyber and travel security in the past, but this is the first time a presentation-style format has been implemented.

“This particular one is home security, things you can do around your house to deter any possible crime. This features deadbolts, motion detectors, shrubbery and things of that nature.” :

Hamilton expects the presentation, which will feature time for a Q & A session, to run about an hour.
