Vintage and classic cars will be lining Morton Avenue on Saturday night for the 31st annual Cruise Night.

Cruise Night organizer Joel Buchanan stopped by the WLDS studio on Friday to talk about the Jacksonville tradition, which runs from 5-9 p.m.

“We tried downtown for a while and shortening the official route between Main and Lincoln. We wanted to concentrate a police presence, the volunteers and everyone else maintaining a safe environment. We had a very calm and respectful event last year. We hope it continues this year,” says Buchanan.

WEAI will be broadcasting the event live from the Hardee’s parking lot all night. Live entertainment will also be provided.

Buchanan says the action on Saturday actually starts early in the morning at Community Park. The vintage Car Show is free for spectators and participants. Door prizes and activities will be provided.

Buchanan highlighted that the proceeds from the event are going towards a great cause.

“All the additional money raised this year will go towards Camp Courage, to benefit those kids and their activities out there. It is important for us to support the local charities and events, just like everyone supports us,” says Buchanan.
