The union representing healthcare workers in Illinois is ramping up their attack ads against Republican lawmakers.

According to our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20, SEIU says they have purchased about $350,000 worth of cable TV time for their commercials. The ads are attacking Governor Bruce Rauner and more than a dozen House Republicans over cuts in child and senior care due to the lack of a budget.

Previous ads by SEIU providers taking on Rauner directly but not individual lawmakers.

In a press release from Jacksonville State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer, he says, “After this past primary, haven’t we seen enough negativity and mudslinging…I’m working to find a true budget compromise that will put the State of Illinois on a path for a better future. This means that neither the Governor, nor the Speaker of the House, can get everything on their ‘want list’ until we take care of the needs of our state.”
