District 117 board members showed an overwhelming amount of support for the latest design plans of the Turner Renovation Project.

The plans were presented by BLDD Architects during a committee of the whole meeting on Wednesday.

Superintendent Steve Ptacek says the new designs will be fantastic for the school and community.

“It is going to have an amazing central space that will serve the band and performances. We have a new gym and plenty of classroom space for our student’s education. We are just incredibly excited.”

Ptacek reviews the small changes made to the plans, which were suggested by the Turner Junior High staff.

“They realized the chorus room needed to be closer to the band room. They looked at the locker rooms and with the new locker configuration, realized they could get two more classrooms in that. They added a fitness area too, so the design allowed for more space within the building.”

Ptacek hopes to have bids completed on the project at the beginning of next year. The first date for construction has been announced for May 31st, 2016.
