Jacksonville School District 117 will hold an emergency meeting to consider the resignation of a board member later this week.

According to the office of school district 117, the only item on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting concerns the resignation of board member Cheryl Ballard.

Superintendent Steve Ptacek was unavailable for comment, though his office did say Ballard has accepted a new job, and to avoid a conflict of interest, the board will consider her resignation.

Ballard’s resignation would be effective immediately, and the school board would have thirty days to fill her position.

The emergency meeting will take place Thursday at Central Office. The action will begin at 5:30 p.m.
