After months of anticipation, District 117 will make a final decision on the contract renewal status for 8 Points Charter.

During the October meeting, District 117 board members voted to authorize Superintendent Steve Ptacek to prepare a resolution of non-renewal for 8 Points Charter.

After a strong push from the 8 Points Charter community, the board agreed to allow representatives of the school to present a case for contract renewal.

Board members will hear a presentation from 8 Points officials, discuss the matter in closed session and make a final determination at the end of the night.

Other action items for the night include hour pay rates for the positions of custodian and secretary, the adoption of the 2015 tax levy and asbestos issues with the Turner Renovation Project.

A special meeting, which will consist of PARCC assessments and board policy reviews, will kick the night off at 6 p.m. at Jacksonville High School.

The regularly scheduled meeting will follow at 7 p.m.
