Over $20-million in funding is being awarded to community health centers throughout Illinois.
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin made the announcement this week that funding, made available through the Affordable Care Act, will increase access to health care services for thousands of new patients in the state.
Locally, Virginia will received almost $250-thousand in funding.
Durbin addressed this announcement by stating, “Community health centers are invaluable resources for families in Illinois, particularly in rural and urban medically under-served areas. This funding will help Illinois community health centers expand the care and critical services they offer for those in need.”
According to a press release, seven Illinois community health organizations were awarded over $67-hundred in funding for infrastructure improvements for renovation, expansion and construction for facilities.
