Second update: Emergency crews respond to accident at Downtown Square

UPDATE AT 7 A.M. TUESDAY:

Hospital officials say David Pfeiffer has been treated and released from the hospital.

UPDATE AT 8 P.M.

Jacksonville Police reports indicate the driver of the vehicle was 69-year-old David Pfeiffer, address unknown.  Pfeiffer was reportedly traveling southbound on Sandy Street, suffered a “medical event”, left the roadway, and struck a gas meter enclosure, causing the vehicle to roll over on its top.

Pfeiffer was transported to Passavant Area Hospital. He’s still receiving emergency room treatment at this hour, according to hospital officials.

An unidentified passenger declined treatment on the scene from EMS crews.


ORIGINAL STORY:

A car flipped over this afternoon on the southwest side of the Downtown Square.

Details are limited, but we know the accident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Monday at Sandy Street, just steps away from Congressman Darin LaHood’s Jacksonville office.

Early indications show the car struck a building on Sandy Street. The Jacksonville Police Department and Jacksonville Fire Department are currently on the scene.

The condition of the individuals in the vehicle is currently unknown.
