Kelly Hall will be taking over the responsibilities of the Jacksonville Parks and Lakes Superintendent.
Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard made that announcement yesterday, just days after the official retirement of long time Director Bruce Surratt.
Hall will oversee the Parks and Lakes Department, along with his duties as the current Community Development Director. Ezard says the position will be renamed Director of Community Development and Recreational Facilities.
Ezard felt reorganizing the Parks and Lakes Department was the best course of action.
“I felt that we had the people in place to lead the efforts. With his experience as an administrator and the support staff in place, this will be a very seamless process. We also save the city approximately $75,000 by doing this,” says Ezard.
Hall says the staff will remain the same at both departments and business will continue as usual.
“Bruce had things set up as a very well-working system. We want to run the department as the council sees fit. We also want to provide nice recreational facilities for the people of Jacksonville,” says Hall.
“Everything is going to go smooth. Everyone at the lake, and who uses the parks, will continue to get nice facilities as they have come to expect.”
Hall plans to take some time to learn the position before going forward with any long term ideas.
