Final Land of Lincoln Honor Flight takes off Tuesday

A number of local veterans have been selected to participate in the final Land of Lincoln Honor Flight of 2015.

On Tuesday morning, 78 veterans of World War II, the Vietnam and Korean Wars will fly to Washington D.C. to visit some of the national most patriotic monuments.

Veterans from Jacksonville include Robert Drake of the US Navy, James Paul of the US Army, Bernard “Keith” Points of the US Army and Sammuel “Ed” Rutter of the US Air Force.

Other veterans from the area include Donald Digley of Alsey, Harlan Fuelling and Mickey Yarbrough of Meredosia, Les Wilson of South Jacksonville, Darrel Day of Winchester and Edward Dufelmeier of Concord.

Included in the trip will be tours of the National Air & Space Museum, the White House, the Washington Monument and Arlington National Cemetery

The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight will pick back up in April of 2016.
