The annual Morgan County Health Department Flu Clinic is right around the corner.
The two-day service will take place at the Jacksonville High School Bowl on Thursday from 1-6 p.m. and Friday from 9-4 p.m.
Jackie Berringer spoke about the clinic on WLDS’ “AM-Conversation” and says this shot helps prevent respiratory flu symptoms.
“We’ve decreased vaccines because of the number of folks who have come to the health department to receive the vaccine. We were giving between 5,000 and 7,000 shots. We now order about 2,300 doses.”
Berringer says the process takes around 10-15 minutes and all the money spent on shots goes to the local health department.
“Of course if you have Medicare part B that covers your flu shot. If you were to pay out of pocket or through Medicaid, the flu shot is $32. All the vaccine that we ordered has the four strains.”
A higher dose is available for seniors and costs $57.
