Goodwill holding recycling event on April 23rd

Land of Lincoln’s Goodwill Industries is gearing up for an upcoming electronic recycling event in Jacksonville.

It’ll be held at the Goodwill store at 1809 West Morton in partnership with the Jacksonville Journal-Courier and Dell electronic products. The event is free, and residents can drive up and drop off electronics in the parking lot, according to a press release.

From 10 a-m until 2 p-m, residents can drop off old and broken computers and computer peripherals, cell phones, stereo equipment, printers, fax machines, VCR and DVD players, and other small electronics. Older tube-type computer monitors will be accepted, but not tube-type TVs because of toxic levels of mercury.

Receipts will be provided for tax purposes.

Residents are reminded to remove personal data from hard drives or ot her storage media before donating the electronics.
