Governor Bruce Rauner was in Morgan County on Saturday as part of a weekend tour of flood-stricken areas in downstate Illinois.

Rauner has declared twelve Illinois counties disaster areas since a three-day rain event that began Christmas weekend. It’s caused ten deaths in the state, and the Illinois National Guard has been mobilized in Southern Illinois due to the possibility of levee breaches on the Mississippi River.

Brendan Cullerton with our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20 was in Meredosia on Saturday, and reports that local emergency officials are also concerned about a breach as the Illinois River at ‘Dosh is set to crest on Tuesday, just a half-foot below the record flood stage set last year.

Rauner wrapped up his tour on Sunday.
