A 57-year-old White Hall man has been sentenced to prison time on reckless homicide charges.
The Jacksonville Journal-Courier reports James McEvers got a five-year sentence after a January guilty plea in Greene County court. McEvers was charged with causing an accident that resulted in the death of Alisha Connors of Roodhouse in November 2011.
The city paper reports original charges of aggravated DUI were dropped because a key witness for former State’s Attorney Matt Goetten was on medical leave. The charges were re-filed in 2013, and current State’s Attorney Caleb Briscoe agreed to drop the aggravated DUI charges as part of the plea deal.
