A former Greene County personal assistant and Medicaid recipient have both been sentenced.

The Illinois State Police have informed WLDS-WEAI News that 41-year old Misty Atwood and 65-year-old Alfred Holder, both of Roodhouse, each pled guilty to one count of vendor fraud in the Greene County Courthouse.

Atwood entered her plea in June and Holder on September 29th.

On June 17th, 2015, the Illinois State Police received a complaint from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and Office of Inspector General regarding alleged Medicaid fraud. The investigation revealed Atwood submitted fraudulent documents to the Illinois Department of Human Services for payment for providing personal care services to Holder.

It also showed Atwood and Holder conspired to falsify the documents to IDHS for payment.

An investigation was conducted, which determined Atwood and Holder defrauded the Medicaid program out of $28,197.

Atwood and Holder were both sentenced to four years of felony probation and ordered to pay $13,614.44 in restitution.
