More records for heat could fall before the weekend is over.

The National Weather Service says there is more potentially record-setting heat in the forecast for virtually all of Illinois. High temperatures are expected to stay above 90 degrees through Monday, and heat index readings could top 95 each day.

Jacksonville set a new record high on Friday when the temperature soared to 97 degrees, as measured at the WLDS/WEAI National Weather Service Weather Cooperative Station. That broke the previous high temperature of 96 degrees for September 22 previously set in 1956.

A big break in the forecast comes on Wednesday, when the high temperature is not expected to top 80.
