West Central Illinois farmers had to hit the pause button on harvesting this week due to heavy amounts of rainfall.
After several dry weeks of weather, an average of 1.4 inches fell in Illinois.
Crop statistician Mark Schleusener says the rain was much needed, but is keeping farmers from wrapping up the harvesting season in many areas.
Schleusener has the latest numbers on Illinois corn and soybeans.
Statewide topsoil increased to six percent very short, 32 percent short, 57 percent adequate and five percent surplus.
