Police are investigating another northeast Jacksonville fire as arson.
It happened at 822 Allen Avenue at around 1:15 this morning. Fire Captain Mike Griffits says the front end of the house, which was unoccupied and being remodeled, was fully involved when crews arrived.
Griffits says firefighters were dealing with electrical issues initially as the fire was impeding on a power line and transformer in front of the building, but that the fire didn’t take long to put out.
Griffits says the fire is suspicious because there was no electrical source inside. The house was completely destroyed. Police officials say it belonged to Harold Hayes of Jacksonville.
Crews were on scene until around 3:15.
This is the third major house fire reported as arson in the city’s northeast section since last April.
