Illinois could become one of the states along the path of a 780-mile transmission line carrying wind power from Kansas.

The Illinois Commerce Commission on Thursday approved the Grain Belt Express route through the state. The line would carry four-thousand-megawatts of clean wind power farther east. It has already won approval from Kansas and Indiana.  Missouri is the only state currently blocking the project.

The Grain Belt Express line route includes Scott and Greene Counties.
