A website is positioning Jacksonville at Number 5 on the list of most “redneck” cities in Illinois.

The website, roadsnacks.net, claims it used “scientific data” to compile the list, such as “number of dive bars”, mobile homes, tobacco stores, and guns and ammo stores, as well as “Walmarts, Golden Corrals, Bass Pro Shops, and Dollar Generals nearby.”

Specifically for Jacksonville, the website cites the city’s number one fishing spot in Illinois by Field and Stream Magazine. It says, “There are a lot of areas to throw in a line here, including Lake Jacksonville, which has produced some great channel cats, largemouth bass and bluegill.”

According to the website, Vandalia, Mount Vernon, Litchfield, and Chester are numbers one through four.
