Jacksonville aldermen will meet tonight to further discuss a request from the city fire chief to expand the firefighter roster.

The Finance Committee will convene at 6 p.m. to talk about the request, which was made last week. Fire Chief Doug Sills wants three new firefighters hired, which would cost the city about $213,000.

Aldermen will also look at annual reports for the fire and police pension funds tonight.

Action items include a resolution to hire Hutchison Engineering to do a feasibility study on the brick portion of West Douglas Avenue. There’s also a resolution for a site access agreement with Reynolds Consumer Products.

It’s all happening at the Jacksonville Municipal Building this evening. The regular workshop session begins at 6:30.
