According to official records from the Jacksonville Fire Department, the first blaze occurred at around 12:30 a.m. in the 900 block of North Prairie. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the owners of the property in the front yard.
When firefighters entered the home, the basement was full of smoke, due to the sump pump catching fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and ventilated the house. The sump pump is estimated to be a total loss.
First responders were notified of a second fire this morning in the 800 block of West Lafayette. Firefighters arrived at the house at around 4 a.m. to find the owners outside the house.
Reports show the stove caught fire in the kitchen on the first floor. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and ventilated structure. The scene was cleared in around 30 minutes and limited damage was reported.
No injuries occurred at either fire this morning.
